Field of activity
Wooden toy makers manufacture wooden toys and other wooden craft products, particularly those in the traditional style of the Erzgebirge region.
In addition to small-scale woodworking, turning, carving decorative machining and painting, the field of activity includes designing and restoring wooden toys, including wooden craft products from the Erzgebirge region.
Occupational skills
The vocational training undertaken by wooden toy makers enables them to perform the following activities in a self-reliant manner, maintaining the standards for precision craft work and observing quality assurance requirements and requirements relating to work safety, health and environmental protection at the workplace:
- designing and constructing products,
- producing, reading and evaluating sketches and drawings,
- selecting and storing wood and supplementary materials,
- selecting, using and maintaining hand tools and measuring and testing equipment,
- setting up, operating and maintaining woodworking machinery and machine tools,
- carrying out lathe work on long-cut and cross timber,
- carving semi-relief figures,
- cutting and drawing decorative borings and helical shavings,
- joining and assembling individual components,
- preparing and coating surfaces,
- painting and decorating products.
