The trade of weaver is today considered to be one of the artistic-creative crafts. Weavers design and produce high-quality articles on hand looms. Primarily in small workshops and studios, mostly individual items are made to special customer order. The range of products includes tablecloths, decorative, upholstery and clothing material, blankets and rugs as well as kilims and costly tapestry of great expressive power and high quality. Weavers usually work in their own highly individual workshops. Other fields of activity are museum education, restoration, social therapy and pattern development.
Weavers carry out their work independently on the basis of job orders and their own designs. They plan and organize their work, in particular in co-ordination with customers. In addition, they take measures for quality assurance, safety and health protection at work as well as for environmental protection.
