Service drivers work in companies which provide services to customers such as maintaining or overhauling appliances, the expansion of warehouse stocks, the replacement of products or the sale of goods, and which deliver and collect goods in relation to these activities. They are employed in particular in companies providing textile rental, work clothing, hygiene services, food product supply and technical services, vending machine operation services and courier, express delivery and postal services.
Service drivers:
- provide product-related services on site
- inform and advise customers and offer goods and services
- compile the goods ordered for dispatch, deliver goods and collect goods, identify any damage to goods and initiate the necessary measures
- receive customer requests and complaints and conduct conversations in a manner appropriate to the situation
- drive on public roads in a safe, efficient and environmentally sensitive manner
- plan their routes according to traffic geography and economic criteria, and according to time specifications
- ensure that their vehicle and working equipment is functioning correctly
- load their vehicle according to the sequence of deliveries and the nature of the goods, check the papers to be delivered with the goods, and secure the load
- accept payments, review routes and do complementary work, and produce invoices
- observe the legal framework conditions
- make use of information and communications systems.
