Safety and security specialists support public safety and order by using their skills; they protect persons, buildings, facilities and other major assets, in particular by means of preventive measures and, as far as required, by averting danger. They work in the areas of assets protection, transport services, events services as well as personal protection and the protection of valuable objects in the private and public spheres. As service providers they work in a customer-oriented manner and on the basis of legal requirements, technical and organizational rules, regulations and specific instructions.

- plan and carry out security measures and measures to avert danger
- assess potential dangers and take security measures
- review and monitor adherence to relevant protective and security regulations, in particular those governing safety at work, fire prevention, environmental protection and data protection
- test the proper functioning of safety and security installations and take measures in case of faults or shortcomings
- identify the way weapons work and their risk potential
- are able to react in an appropriate manner in the case of major emergencies
- observe developments in the safety and security sector and assess the resulting impact on their company’s range of services
- cooperate in drawing up customer-oriented offers
- investigate, clarify and document security-relevant facts and circumstances
- work independently, as part of a team and in cooperation with other service providers.
