Field of activity
Process mechanics for coating technology coat surfaces of metal as well as wood or plastic using various application methods and for decorative or functional purposes, primarily with lacquers.
Coating technology operations are usually small and medium-sized businesses but also include large companies. They can be found in all branches of industry in which goods of metal or plastic are manufactured, for example in the vehicle industry as well as in apparatus and machine production and also for example in the furniture industry, where primarily wood and timber materials and plastics are coated.
Occupational skills
Process mechanics for coating technology:
- carry out independently the duties assigned to them in their field of work,
- master the basics of mechanical production and joining processes,
- use mechanical, chemical and electrolytic processes of pre- and after-treatment of uncoated and coated surfaces,
- master the storage and transport of the materials and goods to be coated as well as the storage,
- transport, proportioning and mixing of solid and liquid application materials,
- master various application methods such as spray and application methods as well as electrostatic coating,
- plan and coordinate the sequence of operations with the preceding and following production processes,
- master the production process in that they operate, monitor and maintain the technical plant, in particular through the input of process parameters, intervention in control programmes,
- documentation of the function and process sequence including peripheral plant,
- take into account environmental aspects in all phases of the production process,
- assure the quality of their products within the framework of quality management through the use of measuring and monitoring devices as well as the systematic search for errors and analysis of errors.
They thus contribute to the continuous improvement of the work process.
