Port boatmen work in sea and river ports in the field of passenger and freight transport with water vessels, as well as in mooring.
Port boatmen are responsible for:
- putting water vessels into operation and driving them
- transporting ferry and tourist passengers
- mooring and unmooring water vessels and hauling them
- loading and unloading water vessels and transporting freight
- maintaining and servicing water vessels and their equipment, as well as technical facilities
- performing nautical tasks
- using communication and information technologies and applying specialist terminology
- communicating with customers and providing information in English
- participating in logistics planning and organisation processes, and conducting quality assurance measures
- planning their work, specifying working stages, and checking, evaluating and documenting their working results
- conducting their work independently or within a team and observing the environmental and health protection standards, as well as work safety regulations
