Occupational Skills
Opticians:
- correct defective vision using vision aids;
- advise customers in the selection of spectacles,
- contact lenses and magnifying vision aids;
- provide appropriate lenses for the intended use on prescription;
- instruct customers on the effects of vision aids on the seeing process;
- process materials manually and by machine, particularly glass, plastic and metal; prepare and insert lenses;
- fit spectacles anatomically and optically; modify and repair spectacles;
- give instruction on the use of vision aids; carry out administrative work;
- assist in company accounting.
