Field of activity
Motor vehicle mechatronics technicians work in the planning, servicing, inspec-tion, diagnosis, repair, equipping and retrofitting of motor vehicles in the key areas of automobile, commercial vehicle, motorcycle and vehicle communications technology. The training takes place with vehicle manufacturers and in servicing companies.
Occupational skills
Motor vehicle mechatronics technicians carry out servicing and repair work both independently and as part of a team, taking account of environmental protection, occupational health and safety and quality assurance, and in a customer-oriented manner. They procure and evaluate information, and plan and document their work. They analyse electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and identify and eliminate faults and malfunctions. They use computer-based information and communications systems to produce test reports.
Motor vehicle mechatronics technicians:
- diagnose faults and malfunctions and their causes
- service, test and adjust vehicles and systems
- disassemble, assemble and repair motor vehicles and motor vehicle systems, subassemblies and components
- equip, retrofit and upgrade motor vehicles and motor vehicle systems
- examine vehicles for compliance with road traffic regulations
- commission and operate vehicles and their associated systems
- update systems and test equipment
- communicate with internal and external customers in a manner appropriate to the situation
- plan and monitor operational procedures and evaluate results
- apply quality assurance measures.
