Field of activity
Microtechnologists produce microtechnology products in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on logistics, process technology, quality management, correct disposal and technical support. They work in manufacturing and the associated infrastructure facilities, and in the R&D divisions of companies and research institutions.
In the field of “semiconductor technology” they produce semiconductor products using lamination, overlaying, etching, and doping techniques and assemble and test such products. Typical products include discrete semiconductors, power semiconductors, integrated semiconductors, ASICS, opto-semiconductors and optoelectronic display systems.
The field “microsystems technology” mainly entails producing supports for components using coating techniques and producing microsystems using placement, soldering, bonding, sealing and testing techniques. Typical areas of activity include the manufacture of circuit supports using thick film, thin film, hybrid, and SMD technologies and the manufacture of components using deep lithographic etching or electroplating and moulding.
