WORK PROCESSES
ADVANCED MACHINE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
Objective: To provide the apprentices with instructions and experience in the installation, maintenance and repairing of special purpose machines, plant equipment and machine tools.
WORK SCHEDULE
1. Machine tool installation
2. Proper rigging for heavy lifts
3. Blueprint interpretation
4. Installation of special purpose
5. Precision measuring machines and plant equipment instruments
6. Use of testing instruments
7. Machine repair work:
a. Diagnose problem
b. Disassemble
c. Manufacture repair parts
d. Repair/replace defective parts
e. Assemble
8. Complex electrical equipment:
a. Plan layout
b. Install
c. Repair
9. Wiring of complex circuits
10. Electrical troubleshooting and repair
11. Prepare wiring control modules
12. Prepare wiring diagrams to record changes
SUGGESTED RELATED TRAINING
The combined application of the skills and knowledge acquired while meeting the objectives of these major functions will enable the apprentice to diagnose problems, perform necessary repair work and maintain plant machinery and structure.
Upon the completion of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, apprentices will be expected to:
1. Plan own work with a minimum of supervision.
2. Complete their assignments in acceptable time frames.
3. Maintain the safety and quality standards established by the company.
