- RESEARCH:
- Researches old court records such as abstracts, maps, charts, property
- deeds and old survey reports to assist in establishing precise measurements
- and locations of elevations, points and lines for conducting new survey.

- Conducts field research of adjoining and for previously established survey
- points as defined by existing records.

- FIELD:
- Assists as a member of a three or more party survey team acting as
- a Chairman, measuring distances between points using metal tape
- or surveyors’ chain. Makes finding known to Surveyor or Party Chief.

- Assists as a member of the survey party acting as a Rodman using a
- level rod, stadia board or range pole, measuring between selected points,
- elevations, distances and directions. Makes findings known to Surveyor
- or Party Chief.
- Assists as a member of the survey party acting as Instrument man who
- sets up, adjusts and operates surveying instruments such as transit, level,
- altimeter, electric distance meter, theodolite and other measuring devices.
- Makes recordings and findings known to Surveyor or Party Chief.

- DRAFTING AND RECORDING:
- Prepares preliminary draft or map, establishing bearings, distances,
- contours, typographical lines, elevations, etc., with aid of electronic
- calculator-computer for correctness.

- Prepares final draft and blue line print. Prepares total findings for
- recording in County Court Deed Records by registered Surveyor.
