HYDRO BLASTER/VACUUM TECHNICIAN

Description of Occupation: Transports, performs setup, inspects, operates, maintains, & repairs high pressure water blasting equipment and industrial vacuuming equipment to perform proper removal, containment, transporting, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials for the purpose of cleaning.

I Class B Commercial Vehicle Operation

a) Pre-Inspection
b) Proper start up and take off procedures.
c) Proper and safe highway transportation of the cleaning/vacuum
equipment to the work site.
d) Routine maintenance
II Low Pressure Hydro Blasting

a) Evaluation of site and communication with others during site
preparation.
b) Proper site preparation to insure safety of oneself and others.
c) Identification and use of all safety equipment needed.
d) Proper setup of equipment
e) Proper start up and safety checks prior to and after start up.
f) Adjustment and control settings of 0 to 3,500 lb PSI of pressure
at the nozzle.
g) Techniques & applications used in low pressure to achieve the
level of cleanliness needed.
III. High Pressure Hydro Blasting & Surface Cleaning

site preparation
b) Proper site preparation to insure safety of oneself and others.
c) Identification and use of all safety equipment needed.
d) Proper setup of equipment
e) Proper start up and safety checks prior to and after start up.
f) Adjustment and control settings of 3,500 lb PSI to 20,000 lb
PSI of pressure at the nozzle.
g) Adjustment and control settings of 20,000 lb PSI 40,000 lb PSI
of pressure at the nozzle.
h) Techniques & applications used in high pressure to achieve the
level of cleanliness needed.
IV. Low & High Pressure Surface Preparation

a) Identification of surface to be cleaned and materials to
be removed
b) Identification & proper procedures for non-hazardous
and hazardous materials.
c) Identification of the various pressure level requirements
for various materials and surfaces.
V. Bulk Vacuuming

a) Proper identification of materials and area
to be vacuumed.
b) Determination of hazards that will be generated.
c) Proper use and purpose of all safety equipment required.
d) Determination of size and type of equipment needed.
e) Proper start up and safety checks prior to and after start
of the equipment.

VI. Vessel Entry

a) Identification of the vessel as permit required or non
permit required.
b) Identification, use, purpose & performance of the safety
& monitoring equipment.
c) Performing work in accordance with entry permit and the
specifications of the owner.
VII. Equipment Maintenance & Repair

Proper use and identification of tools and equipment used for routine maintenance
a) Routine maintenance & safety checks prior to startup.
b) Identification of poor performance and trouble shooting the problem.
c) Proper use and identification of tools and equipment used for repairing.

HAZWOPPER

- Shall meet current EPA standards on
- Hazardous waste control and clean up of any hazardous waste spills.
- Each participant shall receive a Certificate of Completion upon
the successful completion of the course.
C.D.L. Class B with Hazmat Endorsement

a. Shall prepare the participant to pass the
b. State’s written exam with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
c. It will also provide the participants with the opportunity to take the required third party driving examination.
Fall Protection / Man Lift

a. Shall provide for the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and
properly operate a man-lift. It shall include the proper form and use
of fall arrest system.
1st Aid and CPR

This course shall be instructed by an approved Red Cross instructor.
Upon the completion of the course each participant shall receive a
First Aide and CPR Card from the American Red Cross. As per OSHA
regulations dictate all jobs shall meet the First Aide and CPR requirements.
Blood Borne Pathogen

This course and training shall educate the participants as per the
Universal Health Plan. The proper use of PPE and how to prevent
cross contamination of body fluids.
Confined Space Awareness

This course shall provide the knowledge and skills necessary to identify
all the various hazards, permit and non-permit requirements and the regulations
governing hazards for confined spaces.
Hydro Blasting Techniques

This course shall provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform
the safe and proper setup, operation and recognition of proper performance
of the Hydro Blaster equipment that will achieve the level of clean necessary
to warrant customer satisfaction.
Equipment Maintenance (Hydro Blasting)

This course shall provide for the knowledge and skills necessary to
trouble shoot and repair Hydro Blasting equipment in a manner that
will insure safety, maximum performance and prevent down time.
Vacuum Techniques

This course shall provide for the knowledge and skills necessary for
the most effective and safe methodology in vacuuming with extremely
powerful and dangerous equipment in various settings and conditions.
Equipment Maintenance (Vacuum Systems)

This course shall provide for the knowledge and skills necessary to safely
trouble shoots problems that are associated with extremely powerful Vacuum
Systems used in this industry and to insure that adequate and proper corrections or
repairs are made to the equipment in a safe and cost effective manner.
OSHA 10 HR.

This shall be the OSHA 10 hour Out Reach Program. The Training shall be
provided by an OSHA 500 Instructor. At the completion of the training the
participants shall be sent OSHA Completion cards.
