Carrying out a range of roles from general warfare to humanitarian tasks in the Army, Navy, RAF or Royal Marines.
Occupational Profile
The primary role of a Serviceperson is to work as a team member within HM Forces. The effectiveness of that team depends on each individual’s selflessness placing the communal right over individual right. The Serviceperson must be prepared to undertake a diverse range of roles from general warfare to humanitarian tasks necessitating a high level of commitment, enthusiasm and common sense. Each year, large numbers of new recruits enter the HM Forces undertaking programmes of training and skills development necessary to enable them to work in a variety of highly physically and mentally demanding situations and environments, often for prolonged periods. This requires the Serviceperson to have a high degree of physical and mental robustness as well as dedication and self discipline. A serviceperson must be able to understand and adapt to the changing needs of the organization.
