Hearing aid audiologists provide their clients with hearing aid systems to improve impaired hearing. They take care of and give advice to persons with impaired hearing in accordance with the individual’s needs, living environment and specific communication possibilities. In their work they must always take account of the particular psychosocial situation of persons with a hearing impairment.
Occupational Skills
Hearing aid audiologists:
- take care of and give advice to clients;
- use audiometric procedures to determine and evaluate acoustic parameters;
- produce casts of the outer ear; process and manufacture ear moulds;
- fit and modify hearing systems; measure acoustic parameters of hearing systems;
- select hearing systems and accessories, fit these and carry out comparative hearing impact measurements;
- instruct clients on how to use hearing systems and accessories;
- service and maintain hearing systems and accessories;
- provide after-care services;
- evaluate noise and carry out preventive measures to protect hearing;
- sell goods and services;
- carry out business procedures, invoice financing agencies for services rendered.
