WORK PROCESS SCHEDULE
GLAZIER (glass setter, glassworker, plate glass)

Description: Installs glass in windows, skylights, store fronts, and display cases, or on surfaces, such as building fronts, interior walls, ceilings, and tabletops: Marks outline or pattern on glass, and cuts glass, using glass cutter. Breaks off excess glass by hand or with notched tool. Fastens glass panes into wood sash with glazier’s points, and spreads and smoothes putty around edge of panes with knife to seal joints. Installs mirrors or structural glass on building fronts, walls, ceilings, or tables, using mastic, screws, or decorative molding. Bolts metal hinges handles, locks, and other hardware to prefabricated doors. Sets glass doors into frame and fits hinges. May install metal window and door frames into which glass panels are to be fitted. May press plastic adhesive film to glass or spray glass with tinting solution to prevent light glare. May install stained glass windows. May assemble and install metal-framed glass enclosures for showers and be designated Shower-Enclosure Installer (construction). May bedesignated according to type of glass installed as Glazier, Structural Glass (construction); Plate Glass Installer (construction).
On-The-Job Training:
1. Tool equipment, shop training , scaffold, safety measures, first aid, reading of specifications and field blueprint reading.
2. Glazing wood and metal sash, tube doors, partitions and all other types of openings with, but not limited to, putty, moldings, rubber, plastic, gasket settings, sealants, and mastics.
3. Setting all types of store front installations.
4. Setting all types of plate glass, prism glass, beveled glass, protective glass, glass weld panels, window glass, mirrors of all types, wire glass, ribbed glass, heat absorbing glass, ground glass, colored glass, figured glass, vitrolite, carrara glass, and all other types of opaque glass, glass chalkboard, tempered glass, and all types of insulating glass units which could be used as a solar energy system, window panels, and similar types of insulated glass, all plastic or other similar materials when used in place of glass, to be set or glazed with putty, molding, rubber, gasket settings, sealants, and all types of mastics in wood, iron, aluminum, or sheet metal sash, skylight, doors, frames, stone, wall case, showcases, bookcases, sideboards, partitions, and fixtures, etc., temporary or permanent, on or for building in the course of construction or repair or replacement.
5. Doors, frames, and tube work prefabricated units, fabrication in shop or on job site, setting shower doors, and tub enclosures.
6. Setting all types of multiple glazed units.
7. Setting of all types of automatic doors, hinges, etc.
8. Handling and use of all products associated with glass industry.
9. Replacement of any and all of the above-named materials.
10. All types of equipment needed or used to install or replace.
11. All types of miscellaneous glazing.
