Summary
Installs, maintains, repairs, and adjusts pumps, control valves and meters, strainers and filters, water separators, and piping of liquid fuel systems. Makes periodic inspections of units to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges. Inspects electrical wiring, switches, and controls for safe operating condition. Repairs, replaces, and adjusts malfunctioning equipment

Conform to petroleum spill prevention precautions. Control or minimize the effects of petroleum spillage.
Corrosion Control and Material Preservation
Conduct oil and fuel system and equipment inspection. Conduct oil and fuel tank inspection. Treat corrosion and deterioration.
Test Equipment
Use and maintain measuring equipment. Use portable atmosphere test equipment. Troubleshoot portable test equipment.
Support Operations
Maintain and use common hand tools. Maintain and use precision tools. Rig for lifting of heavy equipment. Read pressure gauges. Operate portable breathing apparatus. Operate portable pumps. Operate fuel pumping systems.
Mechanical Maintenance
Maintain fuel hose assemblies on receiving and service stations. Perform preventive maintenance (PMS) on the fuel, defuel, and lube oil systems. Calibrate, adjust, and test the JP-5 and lube oil systems. Troubleshoot the JP-5 and lube oil pumping systems and components within them. Replace diaphragms in hydraulic control valves. Remove and replace components of the fuel and lube oil systems. Repair valves (globe, gate, butterfly, and check). Drain and clean centrifugal purifiers. Inspect and replace filter separator elements. Rebuild centrifugal purifiers. Rebuild pumps (centrifugal, rotary vane, and rotary gear). Clean fuel and lube oil tanks.
