Summary
Installs, adjusts, modifies, repairs, and maintains electrical and electronic parts, assemblies, systems, and equipment in aircraft, engines, and components. Demonstrate knowledge and skills for qualifying as Journeyman. Applicable Job Qualification Requirements will be used as a guide in performing tasks and demonstrating knowledge in the following areas. Actual work time must be recorded in the Work Experience Log.
Skills
Schematics, Drawings, Instructions and Manuals
Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics and drawings and make simplified versions; read and interpret maintenance and service instructions, manuals, and handbooks.
Malfunctions and Discrepencies
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair malfunctions and discrepancies in electrical power generating systems, electrical malfunctions of aircraft fuel systems, including fuel quantity indicators, electrical malfunctions in electro-hydraulic control systems, malfunctions of starting control electrical circuits, fire and overheat warning systems, air data computer systems, attitude reference systems, compass systems, anti-ice/de-ice systems, electrical malfunctions of environmental control systems, electrical malfunctions of automatic temperature and/or exhaust nozzle control systems, engine performance indicating and warning systems, automatic flight control/stabilization indicating and warning systems, exterior and interior lighting systems; observe safety precautions.
Conduct Maintenance Planning and Quality Assurance
Inspect operation of repaired and newly installed parts and components of aircraft electrical/instrument systems; prepare weekly schedules of preventive maintenance; perform pre-flight, post-flight, turnaround, and conditional inspections of aircraft; maintain a visual information display system.
Conduct Corrosion Control and Material Preservation
Inspect for corrosion; remove corrosion; apply corrosion preventive compounds.
Administration
Administer and maintain technical library, supply and tool inventory and control, and test equipment inventory.
Electrical Cables and Conduit
Fabricate, fit, and install aircraft electrical cables and conduit; cut, flare, bend, and install tubing; use and maintain hand tools dies, and jigs.
Test Equipment and Electrical Measuring
Select, use, and maintain test equipment and electrical measuring instruments.
Perform Mechanical Maintenance
Select, use, and maintain test equipment and electrical measuring instruments.
