Skills
Hand and Power Tools
Properly use and care for power and hand tools. Clean and lubricate cameras and polishes camera lenses using air gun, ultrasonic cleaning device, syringe, and tissue paper.
Estimating
Estimate cost of repair, identify malfunction, customer psychology and relations, management, and perform administration functions such as; ordering supplies, maintain maintenance and operational records on cameras.
Still Cameras
Disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, repair, test, adjust, and reassemble still cameras using specialized tools and test devices. Test and align diaphragm, lens mounts, and film transport to minimize optical distortion using precision gauges. Adjust range and view finders using a fixed target. Calibrate operation of shutter, diaphragm, and lens carriers with dial settings using electronic or stroboscopic timing instruments.
Movie Cameras
Disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, repair, test, adjust, and reassemble movie cameras using specialized tools and test devices. Test and align diaphragm, lens mounts, and film transport to minimize optical distortion using precision gauges. Adjust range and view finders using a fixed target. Calibrate operation of shutter, diaphragm, and lens carriers with dial settings using electronic or stroboscopic timing instruments.
Audiovisual Systems/Photo Laboratory Equipment Maintenance
Disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, repair, test, adjust, and reassemble audiovisual systems and photography laboratory equipment.
Camera Lens Maintenance
Disassemble, clean, adjust, test, and reassemble lenses. Test focus of lens system using optical measuring equipment, and repairs or adjusts lens system to correct malfunction.
Inspection
Inspect cameras and equipment to locate defects using jewelers instruments. Measure shutter speed using electronic measuring instruments and adjusts mechanism to manufacturer’s specifications.
Exposure Systems
Calibrate, adjust, repair, and install light meters, synchronizers, and automatic exposure systems. Compare light meter readings with readings of light measuring instruments to verify accuracy of camera light meters.
