Orientation of Videographic Equipment
Record subjects using a variety of cameras and accessories. Properly assemble, position and interconnect equipment. Select proper lenses and filter combination to meet anticipated shooting conditions. Demonstrate limitations of various types of cameras, lenses, recording media and accessories. Adjust lens and camera settings to compensate for factors such as depth-of-field, subject motion, perspective, and lighting conditions. Operate lighting equipment, tripods, and accessories to achieve maximum image quality. Compensate for light quality to achieve desired lighting effect. Operate sound recording equipment.
Videographic Theory and Techniques
Follow instructions of the Director to achieve desired outcome. Examine shooting site to determine proper setup of camera and accessories. Arrange subject matter for proper emphasis and composition. Determine sound and audio requirements, lighting ratios, perspective, and color temperature. Create storyboards for uncontrolled action scenes. Apply proper shooting techniques for interior and exterior scenes. Match the camera lens to the desired perspective. Determine focal length, image size, speed of lens, hyper-focal distance, depth of field and angle of view. Establish pictorial continuity to include basic sequences, shot reestablishments, directional continuity, cut-ins, cutaways, and overlaps. Determine footage to be used; cut and edit video. Maintain and properly label log of footage, data, time, and other technical information. Store and maintain imagery in a manner that will minimize risk of damage or degradation.
Videographic Preventative Maintenance and Safety
Perform preventive maintenance and functional checks on video cameras and associated equipment. Perform operator maintenance on video sound recording equipment. Observe prescribed safety precautions.
