Bicycle mechanics work independently and are responsible for completing their assignments in full. They assemble bicycles from structural components, subassemblies and systems and service them. They modify bicycles as far as the given opportunities for adjustment allow, and by replacing components in accordance with customer requirements. They fit accessories and additional devices to bicycles.
They use specialist techniques for their work, including testing, measuring, assembly, dismantling, joining, separating and manual and machine processing. They plan and control working procedures, use testing and measuring devices and evaluate work results.
Bicycle mechanics:
- service bicycles and other products commonly used in the field
- assemble and dismantle structural parts, subassemblies and systems
- fit accessories and additional devices to bicycles
- recommend services, goods and products
- advise customers with regard to maintenance and servicing work
- produce bicycles from individual components.
