Summary
Maintains the various aircraft systems such as seat and canopy ejection (egress), gaseous and liquid oxygen, life raft ejection, fire extinguishing, air conditioning, cabin and cockpit heat, pressurization, and ventilation. Removes, inspects, tests, and installs oxygen system valves, gauges, converters, regulators and safety equipment. Inspects, removes, installs and rigs ejection seats, shoulder harnesses, lap belts and face-curtain mechanisms. Performs daily, preflight, postflight and other periodic aircraft inspections.

General Administration
Maintain logs, records, and tool inventories. Use publications. Prepare reports. Order directives, manuals, and publications.
Technical Administration
Complete Maintenance Data System (MDS) forms. Use charts, diagrams, maintenance and service instructions, maintenance information automatic retrieval system, and schematics. Interpret technical directives. Maintain technical library. Maintain a Visual Information Display System (VIDS). Assist in aircraft accident investigations.
Test Equipment
Operate general purpose test equipment. Maintain test equipment.
Safety
Conform to prescribed safety practices.
Logistics
Inventory aircraft. Inventory material and equipment. Order supplies and equipment. Turn-in and pick-up repair parts, tools, and supplies. Review and submit changes to individual material readiness list (IMRL). Review and submit changes to Individual Component Repair List (ICRL).
Aviation Support Operations
Operate support equipment. Prepare aircraft for ground maintenance. Service aircraft on the flight line. Service with liquid and gaseous oxygen. Service vapor cycle systems and liquid coolant systems. Service refrigeration units. Brief/de-brief aircrews.
Mechanical Maintenance
Remove and replace check valves, relief valves, sequence valves, restrictors and actuating cylinders. Remove, replace and troubleshoot cockpit canopies, canopy systems, and canopy seals. Remove and replace components of vapor cycle system, temperature and pressure control units, components of auxiliary bleed-air systems, environmental control systems, and adjust canopy seals.
Electromechanical Maintenance
Adjust actuating controls and mechanisms. Arm, disarm, and test functional performance of ejection seats, rocket motors, and canopy jettison systems. Replace defective indicators and controls.
Survival Equipment Maintenance
Maintain, test, and inspect flight deck life preservers and sound attenuators. Remove and replace aircraft survival equipment. Perform ground checks on oxygen systems. Locate and repair leaks in oxygen systems. Test bleed air anti-icing systems for leakage, test vapor cycle system for leaks. Locate and repair leaks in canopy jettison systems. Remove and replace safety belts, shoulder harnesses, and inertia reels. Remove and replace components of aircraft fire extinguishing systems. Remove, inspect, and replace ejection seats and components including cartridges and rocket motors. Remove, inspect, replace, and purge oxygen bottles, aircraft oxygen systems and components. Fill seat pan oxygen bottles. Remove and replace aircraft parachutes, drogue chutes, seat pans, and seat pan cushions. Test harness release systems. Troubleshoot environmental, utility and egress systems.
Quality Assurance
Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD) program. Comply with tool control program. Inspect equipment for proper installation, security of mounting and evidence of damage. Perform maintenance requirement inspections. Perform minimum performance checks.
