- AAI Grantee Webinar: AAI Grantee Webinar: “Registered Apprenticeship Reimagined: Lessons Learned from AAI” Preview August 27, 2020 from 3-4 PM ET
- In this webinar, grantees will get a chance to hear from The National Governors Association and the U.S. Department of Labor about the AAl report, Registered Apprenticeship Reimagined: Lessons Learned from the American Apprenticeship Initiative. This report provides insights and lessons learned to help identify what types of registered apprenticeship efforts lead to success for both participants and businesses. - S. Department of Labor (DOL) COVID Guidance: COVID guidance for apprenticeship grants and contracts, including for the AAI cohort, is now published on DOL’s COVID webpage. Topics include:
- How can grantees encourage their Registered Apprenticeship program to keep apprentices employed during the COVID-19 crisis?
- For AAI grantees, what are the expectations for employer outreach and activities, which normally require meeting with people?
- Can AAI grantees modify the budget and activities to build new capacity that is more resilient to emergencies like COVID-19?

- Austin Community College to Offer Google Apprenticeship (Patch.com): Austin Community College District, Google and Pathstream announced a new partnership to launch Google’s first Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program.
- New Ordinance Could Create Apprenticeship Requirement for Companies Looking to do Business with City of Tampa (ABC Action News): There is a new ordinance in the works that would push companies to hire apprentices if they want to do business with the City of Tampa.
- New Apprenticeship Program Seeks to Fill Shortage of Skilled Laborers (wbaltv.com): A partnership among the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, Baltimore City Public Schools and the Home Builders Institute, a new apprenticeship program is aimed at providing the hands-on experiences needed to pursue technical careers.
- PSU Extension Creates Butcher Apprenticeship (Wearecentralpa.com): A unique apprenticeship is beginning in January on the campus of Penn State with hopes of assisting Pennsylvania’s livestock producers.
- KCC Receives Grant to Build New Apprenticeship Center (Fox26Medford): Klamath Community College received a $3M grant to fund the construction of a new apprenticeship center.
- GPS Education Partners is on a Mission to Prepare the Next Generation Workforce (Biztimes): GPS Education Partners is bridging the skills gaps by helping students transition from the classroom to a technical career – exposing them to viable technical careers, while effectively tackling the worker shortage plaguing companies.
- Land Purchase for Eastern Wake Educational and Training Site Finalized (waketech.edu): Wake Tech is a step closer to building a new educational and training site, which will support the college’s new Tower Technician apprenticeship program.
