- AAI Learning Network Call – September 23, 2020 at 4pm ET
- This final learning network call will give grantees an opportunity to reflect on participating in the AAI cohort, share achievements and lessons learned, and to share any recent accomplishments. Grantees will also hear reflections from the Department of Labor and NGA Center for Best Practices.

- Department of Labor (DOL) COVID Guidance: COVID guidance for apprenticeship grants and contracts, including for the AAI cohort, is now published on DOL’s COVID webpage. Topics include:
- How can grantees encourage their Registered Apprenticeship program to keep apprentices employed during the COVID-19 crisis?
- For AAI grantees, what are the expectations for employer outreach and activities, which normally require meeting with people?
- Can AAI grantees modify the budget and activities to build new capacity that is more resilient to emergencies like COVID-19?

- Google Hires South Bay Students for Yearlong IT Apprenticeships (Mercury News): Google launched an apprenticeship program for San Jose City College students who are pursuing careers in information technology.
- WCC, Smithfield Foods Sign Second Cohort of Apprentices (Mount Olive Tribune): Smithfield Foods and Wayne Community College welcomed a second cohort of maintenance apprentices in a signing ceremony recently.
- Workcred Partners with Team Awarded $12 Million DOL Grant for Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (PR News Wire): Under the grant, Dallas College, the American Hospital Association, Workcred, and Bufflehead Strategies, LLC are joining forces to support the creation of curricula, training programs, and nationally recognized certifications for successful apprentices in non-clinical healthcare professions.
- Farm Training, Apprenticeship Programs Help New and Aspiring Farmers Put Local Foods on Local Plates (Stuttgart Daily Leaders): The University of Arkansas System of Division of Agriculture center launches its first Farm School in January 2021, where those whose hands yearn for dirt can learn to farm with classroom training and practical experience.
- The McGuire Group, 1199SEIU, & Trocaire College Join Forces on Apprenticeship Program (WNY Papers): Through a workforce development in long-term care grant from New York State, The McGuire Group, 1199SEIU Upstate health care union and Trocaire College are collaborating on an apprenticeship program to help close skills gaps within the nursing workforce.
- SynED and US VALOR Help Bring Veterans Into the Cybersecurity Workforce (PR Newswire): US VALOR (Veterans Advancing through Learning, Opportunities, and Resources) is pleased to announce its US DOL Registered Apprenticeship Program, where US VALOR apprentices can continue their service as part of the country’s cybersecurity workforce.
- WVU Launching Apprenticeship Pathway Degree Program (com): A partnership among West Virginia University, WVU Potomac State College, WVU Extension Service Institute for Labor Studies and Research, the West Virginia Carpenters Training Center and the West Virginia State Building and Construction Trades Council will allow apprentices to further their skills and education through a new associate degree program.
- These Women in Construction are Cracking the Cement Ceiling (Architectural Digest): In the United State, the trades are booming, however, according to recent data from the National Association of Women in Construction, women make up just 9.9% of the construction industry in the country, with nearly a third of that stat attributed to female sales and office personnel.
- National Cyber League (NCL), CyberUp Partner to Grow Cybersecurity Talent Pipeline (PR Newswire): The National Cyber League (NCL), a national leader in high school and college cybersecurity competitions, and CyberUp, an organization offering cybersecurity apprenticeships, have agreed to partner in providing students a pathway to advance in cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
