- Wednesday, August 1 from 3-4:00pm ET: Industry Engagement Webinar: Stories from the Field on Adjusting to Meet Employer Needs.
- During this webinar highlighting the work of the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA), Houston Community College, and the Florida State College at Jacksonville, we will hear about actionable strategies to improve industry engagement across sectors. These AAI grantees will talk about how they have adjusted their partnership model with businesses as a result of a better understanding of their needs and challenges. As a result of these adjustments, the employer partners moved from interest to action. These grantee stories will be shared through an interactive interview style and webinar participants are welcome to actively participate and ask their own questions.

- These calls will provide grantees and their partners an opportunity to talk with their peers about employer engagement challenges within specific industries:
- Information Technology – Wed, Aug 8 from 3:30-4:30pm ET
- Advanced Manufacturing – Wed, Aug 15 from 3-4:00pm ET
- Health Care – Wed, Aug 22 from 3-4:00pm ET
- These calls will provide grantees and their partners an opportunity to talk with their peers about employer engagement challenges within specific industries:
- Wed, Sept 19 from 3-4:00pm ET: Webinar on Growing Your Apprenticeship Program: Branding and Marketing for Success
- This webinar will focus on how grantees can brand and market their apprenticeship programs to potential students and their parents, as well as to employers and education partners. We will highlight several grantees’ communication strategies, including ways to maximize social media’s potential in recruiting candidate pools.
Apprenticeship Resource Corner:
- Apprenticeship Return on Investment Calculator (Oregon Apprenticeship): This tool from oregonapprenticeship.org allows users to explore common benefits and costs from apprenticeship to businesses and provides useful guidance on calculating the potential ROI to companies.
- The Apprenticeship Wage and Participation Gap (The Center for American Progress): Issue brief analyzing gaps in participation and wages among women and people of color in apprenticeship programs over the last decade.
- Girls-Only Trade Classes are Spreading – and Upending Stereotypes (The Hechinger Report): Feature on the expansion of women-only trade classes and the issues they face, including Title IX regulations.
Apprenticeship in the News:
- Lockheed Martin to Create 8,000 New Apprenticeship Opportunities (Industry Week): Lockheed Martin has pledged to create 8,000 new apprenticeship opportunities and invest $5 million in vocational and trade programs over the next five years.
- First-Ever Welder/Fitter Apprenticeship Program Approved at Angola (New Orleans City Business): A first of its kind welder/fitter program in Louisiana has been approved by the State Apprenticeship Council. The program will help inmates serving lesser term learn the skills they need to pursue welding or pipefitting careers after they are released.
- Washington University Banks on Trend, Announces Medical Apprenticeship Program ( St. Louis Public Radio): Washington University in St. Louis has announced it will begin hiring apprentices to work as medical assistants in clinics in the St. Louis region.
